Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG)
Introduction
At Harris Academy Tottenhan, we passionately believe in the significance of a robust Careers Education plan, that caters for pupils needs from a young age. This policy aims to explain to all stakeholders the ways in which the Academy complies with our legal obligations under Section 42b of the Education Act (1997).
Key Information:
Our Careers Coordinator is: ALLAN PALTZER
Our Careers Advisor is: HETAL JOSHI
Both can be contacted through ceiag@harristottenham.org.uk
Pupil entitlement
All pupils in years 8-13 are entitled:
- to find out about technical education qualifications and apprenticeships opportunities, as part of a careers programme which provides information on the full range of education and training options available at each transition point;
- to hear from a range of local providers about the opportunities they offer, including technical education and apprenticeships – through options events, assemblies and group discussions and taster events;
- to understand how to make applications for the full range of academic and technical courses.
Management of provider access requests
A provider wishing to request access should contact Allan Paltzer, Careers Coordinator
Telephone: 0203 772 4243
Email: ceiag@harristottenham.org.uk
Opportunities for access
A number of events are integrated into our school careers programme, which will offer providers the opportunity to visit our school to speak to pupils and/or their parents/carers, these are detailed in our careers plan, which has been planned in accordance with the GATSBY benchmark guidance.
We have focused opportunities targeted at STEM and High Achieving students with bespoke programmes.
Providers are welcome to leave a copy of their prospectus or other relevant course literature with our receptionist at the main Reception. This will be placed into the Careers section of our Library, which is regularly updated and is accessible to all students throughout the school day and for after school activities.
Monitoring, Evalutation and Review of Impact
The impact of the CEIAG programme will be measured through:
- Destination data at the end of Year 11 and Year 13
- Pupil voice surveys and feedback
- Parent voice surveys and feedback
Careers and Enterprise Plan – last updated October 2018
The following careers plan indicates the key events over the course of the academic year which seek to improve careers knowledge understanding and employability skills. It also includes contact with external partners and supporters.
The impact of the careers and enterprise provision is measured by the Whole School Careers and Enterprise Survey conducted in SUM2 as well as the NEET/Destinations report produced in October of each year.
If you would like further information of these activities please contact Allan Paltzer on the following email: a.paltzer@harristottenham.org.uk.
