What an amazing trip! Learning on board HQS Wellington with our year 12 & 13's. The learning opportunities were built to challenge our student's understanding placing them in a 'real world' situation in which they applied their knowledge. https://t.co/nqpXisChYy

BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Performing Arts

Specification: Pearson

Method of Assessment: Mandatory content (83%) External assessment (58%)

Course Overview:

The Extended Certificate is for learners who are interested in learning about the performing arts sector alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses, not necessarily in performing arts. It is designed to be taken as part of a programme of study that includes other appropriate BTEC Nationals or A Levels.

Units Studied:

Entry Requirements:

Students require a minimum of 7 GCSE’s at grade 5 or above or equivalent, including English (Literature or Language) and Mathematics, with at least a grade 6 or Merit in Performing Arts or a related subject.

Reading Materials / Resources:

Pearson Learning Services provides a range of engaging resources to support BTEC Nationals, including:

• textbooks in e-book and print formats

• teaching and assessment packs, including e-learning materials via the Active Learn Digital Service.

Teaching and learning resources are also available from a number of other publishers. Details of Pearson’s own resources and of all endorsed resources can be found on our website.

Career Opportunities

In addition to the performing arts sector-specific content, this qualification provides learners with the opportunity to develop all-round performance skills and transferable skills such as self-confidence, self-presentation, personal discipline, time management and organisational skills which are highly regarded by higher education and employers.

• communication skills – performing, communicating and presenting ideas to an audience

• collaborative skills – with a focus on self-management, teamwork and participation in group performance which develops collaborative skills and confidence building.

All of the content in the qualification will help prepare learners for further study.

The qualification is intended to carry UCAS points and is recognised by higher education providers as contributing to meeting admission requirements for many courses when taken alongside other qualifications as part of a 2-year programme of learning.

It can lead to a gateway of opportunities including:
