Course Overview:

This qualification is part of the suite of music performance qualifications offered by Pearson. In the suite there are qualifications that focus on different progression routes, allowing learners to choose the one best suited to their aspirations. This qualification will develop your knowledge and understanding of fundamental musical theory and how it’s applied in practical musical activities. You will develop and apply theoretical knowledge in a relevant, useful and meaningful way. It will give you a working knowledge of musical theory and harmony, and the fundamental skills essential for progression to higher education courses, including degrees in music and music for media. It will also prepare you for a variety of careers in the music and media industries.

 

Units Studied:

 

Entry Requirements:

Students require a minimum of 7 GCSE’s at grade 5 or above or equivalent, including English (Literature or Language) and Mathematics, with at least a grade 6 or Merit in Music.

 

Reading Materials / Resources:

 

Pearson Learning Services provides a range of engaging resources to support BTEC Nationals, including:

• textbooks in e-book and print formats

• revision guides and revision workbooks in e-book and print formats

• teaching and assessment packs, including e-learning materials via the Active Learn Digital Service.
