Pathways, Careers & Beyond the Classroom

Support for students' future pathways and careers advice is integrated into the fabric of our Sixth Form.

In addition to the Federation Harris Experience Advanced opportunities, screenings and virtual workshops, all our students are regularly involved in local, community or interest-specific sessions facilitated by external and internal professionals. For example:

As a student in our sixth form, you will be given the opportunity to take part in a range of enrichment activities.

Examples of pathways provision

We encourage and expand our students’ interests through stranded careers and pathways provision.

  • Behind Every Kick: to develop individuals holistically and focus on their ambitions, opportunities and self-presentation (eight students involved long-term, with 20+ involved in several sessions)
  • Home Cooked: 16 students have been trained and employed as research analysts, using their skills to assess local community priorities and support across the academic year and beyond in the Godwin Lawson Foundation grants and project decisions
  • Financial literacy, employability and enterprise programme with NLPC – 15-20 students will begin this 12-week programme
  • Tottenham Spurs Employability programme
  • Social sciences and project-management focussed careers insights and visits through the Wellcome Trust and Wellcome Collection
  • NHS mentoring – support on issues and careers interests individually highlighted by participants
  • Link work and work experience with Fernlea Medical Practice
  • Women in Finance – long-term support for maths/economics female students. Expert support from PhD students after the programme is complete which will run into Year 13.
  • Locker Room – personal development and aspiration building among young males, with a focus on toxic masculinity, in partnership with Kinetic.
  • Clifford Chance law firm link
  • Midwifery and Medical careers insight events

Our entire cohort have trips to help them make secure choices about their future studies and careers:

  • Tottenham Stadium Careers Fair
  • University trip for all of Year 12 based on pathways interests, to universities such as Hertfordshire, Oxford, Brighton, Loughborough and UEL
  • LMH trip with Haringey council

Extended Project Qualification

The Level 3 Extended Project allows learners to study a topic of their choice in great depth, extending their learning in the chosen area of study and developing highly desirable skills which will help prepare students for either University study or the world of work.

This is an AS qualification so and students receive UCAS points. The Extended Project gives students an opportunity to manage and conduct their own research and investigate areas of interest about which they are passionate. Find out more.

University access courses/mentoring

Through our links within the Harris Federation, there are opportunities to work with leading universities, including Kings College and Imperial College, and leading professional organisations, based in and around the city.

Student leadership

Sixth Form students have the opportunity to join our Student Voice and take a leading role in our Leadership Group. There are a wealth of leadership opportunities working with the lower school through our mentoring and community outreach programmes.
