Only 1 Covid case in 3000 London schools last week and only 9 over last 4 weeks. Is the virus disappearing?

Rafael Lemkin was born 120 years ago. He coined the term and fought relentlessly for the recognition and prevention of the crime. We hope that we can all play our part in making 'Never again' a reality.

Thank you. We will check and connect. If we cannot identify the person we will direct message you if that is okay?

Year 3 - Swans Class

The Year 3 class is led by Ms Ahmet. The Teaching Assistants supporting the Year 3 class will be Mr Williams, Mr Thompson and Mrs Goggin.

We will practise phonics, reading and spelling in our Read, Write Inc. lessons and reading lessons and will write in a variety of genres in our Literacy lessons. We will focus on some interesting stories and information books too.

In Maths, we will be working with numbers to 100 thinking carefully about place value and practicing our additional and subtraction skills.

In History, we will be learning who the first humans in Britain were and where they came from. We will explore further about the Stone Age and understand what life was like. In Geography, we will be using and interpreting maps and finding out what information we can gather.

In Science, we will be learning about forces and magnets, whilst looking at cave paintings in art and learning all about different structures in Design and Technology.

Our PE and Performing Arts lessons will be on Tuesday. Please make sure you have your PE kit in school on this day and remember to write your name in all the items.

Our Meet the Teacher Session will be held on Wednesday 25th September at 2.45pm, to discuss more about the curriculum and upcoming events for Year 3.

Spring Update

Swan class have worked exceptionally well this half term. In maths we learnt about money and applied the knowledge in real life situations such as; pretend shopping and selling items using arti cial money. The class have also explored angles, and place values, whereby we worked with large numbers, identifying and describing angles. In English we explored different types of literatures and topics, from fascinating story writing, real life debate, persuasive writing and applying our amazing new vocabularies in each piece of writing. As well as, allowing our brilliant imagination to come to life through reading and writing.

Year 3 team have also enjoyed investigating rocks and soil in science, by taking up the role of mini-scientist to inspect different aspect of rocks, fossils and soil. The Swans will also get a chance to see and explore some of the greatest scientists work during our next trip to the National History Museum next term.

Swan class have managed to excel in all lessons, including art, geography, R.E, DT, PE, Performing Arts and PSHE, and will continue to work to their full potential in term two.

Spring 2

Year 3 has worked exceptionally well this term, their love for learning echoes in their work and home learning tasks.

We enjoyed exploring different units in maths and incorporating different mathematical resources to help us solve reasoning questions. In English, we read a variety of non- ction and ction texts, we used drama and role-play to re-tell stories, as well as produced exceptional creative writing. In DT, year 3 designed and started making their own unique pillows, whilst in Science we explored and investigated different parts of a plant, as well using purple mash to complete our computing tasks.

I understand due to school closure some students may feel out of routine, but learning does not stop, we still need to push through. I hope the children have enjoyed completing their learning packs independently or with a help of an adult or siblings. As the Easter holiday approaches, we have formed a new homework which can be found on the HATO website.

If the school should remain closed after the Easter holiday there will be a new learning pack sent home, which will allow students to continue to access the curriculum. I wish you all a lovely Easter break, and look forward to hearing about all the amazing adventures.
