If you're intending to take your once-daily exercise in our parks this weekend, please minimise your time there; use the open facilities responsibly & keep a safe distance from others. Otherwise, stay at home 🏡, protect our NHS 🏥 & save lives. Thank you.

Show my learning - Autumn term

Usually at this time in the term we would invite our families into the academy to come and see all of the children’s wonderful learning. Due to the current restrictions this is not possible at the moment.

However, this will not stop us from showing you all of the exciting things we have been doing this term at Harris Academy Tottenham. Please see the film above. We hope you enjoy!

Autumn update

Wow! What a term Reception have had! They have settled into school exceptionally well – we are all very proud of them!

In September, children started having their RWI lessons as a whole class and have made excellent progress, so have been split into smaller learning groups so that they can make even more progress. As a year group, we are still learning our Set 1 sounds. Some of us have even started blending sounds to read short words. It has been lovely to see the children remembering their phonic sounds and using them back in the provision, where they have had the opportunity to do lots of writing, including describing characters from our focus stories and writing about who they live with at home.

In our Maths lessons we have been working extremely hard to secure our knowledge of numbers up to 5 – we have been counting, forming numbers, estimating, identifying one more and one less, counting forwards and backwards and ordering numbers. This half term, we will be continuing our learning of numbers up to 10 and learning all about times of the day.

Throughout Continuous Provision sessions, the children have had a wide range of learning opportunities to build upon their creative skills, communication and language, social and emotional development and physical development. Having access to both the indoors and outdoors provision means that Reception have been able to paint portraits, count out objects as well as practise their balance skills on the daily assault course and the bikes!

Both Robins and Sparrows have had a wonderful first half term, we are really looking forward to seeing the progress that the children make over the next few weeks! As always, thank you for your ongoing support!
