“The important thing is to never stop questioning”

Albert Einstein

Science is a core subject in primary and learning starts in the Early Years through our Nature nurture programme, where children learn about and explore the world around them. The KS1 and 2 curriculum has been designed to offer the full rigour and challenge of the primary science national curriculum. Through this, children develop their curiosity and learn a range of knowledge and skills, including scientific enquiry, literacy, numeracy.

Science is a core subject for KS3 and KS4 and is currently taught over four lessons a week at KS3 level, which increases up to six lessons a week from Year 10 onwards. At KS5 we offer Biology, Chemistry and Physics as an option for pupils. We follow the AQA curriculum at all key stages.

Mission statement

Our pupils will enjoy exploring; they will be able to form critical judgements using their prior knowledge and understanding of the scientific method, especially in applying this to unfamiliar contexts. They will demonstrate the ability to systematically gather, and extrapolate from, data in order to test hypotheses and further their own understanding. They will be able and willing to live with uncertainty as long as it takes to dispel that uncertainty through an objective, logical process.
